Waukegan Park District and Vista Health Partnership

By EL CONQUISTADOR

Waukegan – The Waukegan Park District has a new partnership with Vista Health System. The partnership, spanning 2010-2012, positions Vista as the lead sponsor for the upcoming American Independence Day Festivities, the SwimSmart Program, World Wide Day of Play and Eggstravaganza.

Partnering with the Field House Sports and Fitness Center, Vista Health professionals will lead a series of health and wellness activities for the public beginning this Fall.

“This is an exciting partnership that maximizes both institutions’ resources,” stated Alicia Mentell, Superintendent of Recreation, for the Waukegan Park District. “We are very pleased to have their staff teach sessions supporting healthy behaviors, increasing fitness and reducing obesity.”

Vista Health System is a long-time sponsor of the American Independence Parade and Festival.

Vista has participated in the parade with walking groups and floats on several occasions and sponsored activities at the festival that takes place in Bowen Park after the parade.

Previously, in 2009, Vista helped sponsor both the Fishing Derby and the Youth Triathlon. This will be the first time Vista has sponsored World Wide Day of Play, the Swim Smart program, and Eggstravaganza.
