GRAYSLAKE – A new exhibit called “Javier Chavira & Sergio Gomez: Figurative Works” will be on display from Friday, May 21, to July 1 at the College of Lake County Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art, 19351 W. Washington St., in Grayslake.
The public is invited to attend an opening reception for the exhibit from 7 to 9 p.m. May 21. It will include refreshments and music by Jazz Beaucoup.
An artist whose portraits explore his Mexican heritage, Javier Chavira has work in numerous collections, including the one at the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in Chicago.
Sergio Gomez’s paintings, on the other hand, use figures as an anonymous representation of the self, depicted as a shadow, aura, ghost or energy light.
